Delivering real reality to the World Wide Web via telerobotics

چکیده
Robots provide us with a means to move around in, visualize, and interact with a remote physical world. We have exploited these physical properties coupled with the growing diversity of users on the World Wide Web (WWW) [1] to create a WWW based telerobotic remote environment browser. This browser, called Mechanical Gaze, allows multiple remote WWW users to control a robot arm with an attached camera to explore a real remote environment. The environment varies but is typically composed of collections of physical museum exhibits which WWW users can view at various positions, orientations, and levels of resolution. http://vive.cs.berkeley.edu/capek

Virtual environment for telerobotics
A common problem faced by institutions concerns the limited availability of expensive robotics and control equipment, with which students in the educational program can work, in order to acquire valuable 'hands on' experience. The Multiple Manipulators for Training and Education (MuMaTe) virtual control and robotics laboratory was launched on the World Wide Web (WWW). Its aim was to evaluate th...
متن کامل1 Telerobotics Experiments via Internet
This paper describes design issues involved in providing remote users with internet access to laboratory or production line based hardware. Simulation tools for the robotic hardware were developed using C++ and VRML 97 to create a desktop virtual reality environment which improves the visualisation of the manipulator hardware and associated workspace. Communication between the remote user and p...

متن کاملACME, A Telerobotic Measurement Facility for Reality-Based Modelling on the Internet
The Active Measurement Facility (ACME) is an integrated robotic facility designed to acquire rich measurements from objects of moderate size, for the purpose of building accurate computational models. ACME is a telerobotic system with fteen degrees of freedom, and can be controlled from any remote location on the world wide web. We provide a brief overview of ACME, followed by aspects of telepr...
متن کاملA Scalable and Efficient Design of WebSignSys
WebSignSys is an infrastructure which bridges the physical world and the virtual world (World Wide Web). It provides a form of augmented reality by creating, mapping, delivering, and detecting websigns (introduced in [7]), which are defined as hyperlinks from physical locations to web resources. In WebSignSys design, there are many challenges, such as scalability, efficiency, etc. In this repor...
